Note:This composition is not as famous as it should be. It is popular among dance musicians in Kerala. It sings praise of Shiva Thandava, with a jathi bringing in a dramatic effect. There is another Hindusthani piece (Sankara Sreegiri) which also deals with the same theme.
Lord SIVA dances to the syllable “dhrkttom dhrkttom”.
He is always spotless in form; bestows auspiciousness and knowledge to the dependents who worship in the evenings at SANDHYA-s.
With gem studded anklets in his legs sounding “ghana ghana” and worshipped with reverence by INDRA and others and nodding to the sound of flute.
One who delights in the sound of “dumu dumu” played in the DAMARUKA by NANDIKESVARA; one who is surrounded by celestial damsels fanning with CAMARA-S and the one who is adorned with crescent moon.
One whose feet are worshipped by sages devoid of sin; one who is the consort of Lord PADMANABHA’s sister; one who is skilful in dispelling the miseries of the hapless; one who opposed YAMA and is among the host of virtuous ones.
